2019 Shuttle Update
YOU MUST TAKE SHUTTLE TO THE START OF THE RACE. SHUTTLE LEAVES FROM MCKENZIE RIVER TRACK ONLY.
As many of you know, the highway at the Carmen access road is a very dangerous spot to be turning or stopping. For the safety of everyone, we cannot allow stopping, parking, or people to be dropped off at the access road.
The Forest Service has agreed to allow race director vehicles and shuttle busses only on the access road on the morning of the race. There will be no parking on the Carmen access road outside of the gate during the race.
In light of this, here is our shuttle solution:
The shuttles will leave the McKenzie Community Track starting at 515 AM, the last shuttle will leave at 6 AM.
Packet pick up on race morning will be at the McKenzie Community Track starting at 430 AM, and ending when the last shuttle leaves. There will be no packet pick up at the race start line. (More to come on pre-race day packet pick up later)
The shuttle WILL NOT pick up runners at the Ranger Station to take them to the start. This is changed from previous years.
ALL RUNNERS MUST RIDE THE SHUTTLE. You cannot be dropped off at the start line. Any runners not riding the shuttle will receive a DNS (Did Not Start).
Your race fee now includes the cost of the shuttle. There is no additional charge to ride the shuttle, however, the drivers will accept “tips” as donations to the high school athletics.
There will be a return shuttle from the finish line at the Ranger Station to the McKenzie Community Track.
Please contact us with any questions, concerns, or if you feel this is an undue hardship for you, i.e driving from the Bend area.
We thank you for your cooperation with the change to the start line and shuttle use this year.
